Concept, design & illustration
In support of award-winning singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran’s 2015 world tour, I was commissioned by client Warner Music to create an illustrated poster to be sold at the UK dates in London. The illustration was also adapted for a t-shirt design.
As with much of my illustration work, my inspiration was rooted in the past - specifically the Fillmore East gig posters of the 70s. Though Ed's music style is contemporary, I found the presentation of his performances – often just voice and guitar – very reminiscent of the folk and blues scene that graced the Fillmore back in the day. This idea became the concept behind the illustration.
The illustration was drawn from photographs of the artist supplied by the client, using a Wacom tablet and Adobe illustrator.
The poster was available as an A2 art print at the London Wembley concerts, July 2015. It was available as a t-shirt through the North American tour of the same year. The Wembley/Croke Park tour t-shirt is still available to purchase online.
